Windows XP development environment

Hello, List,

What is your dev environment buidling a XP device driver? Should I use the
Win2000 DDK?

Pls provide insight.

TIA

The MSDN universal subscription (and professional?) for May contains the XP
DDK. You can use either the W2K or the XP DDK for building drivers that will
work on XP. Obviously if you use features only available in XP you need to
use the XP DDK. Given that XP will not ship before October of '01, I’d
suggest using the W2K DDK for now and testing on XP/W2K/{Other hideous
legacy operating systems as needed}.

If you are developing strictly for Windows XP then use the Windows XP DDK.
If however, your target is 2000 and XP, I would do all my builds in 2000,
but test the driver using XP. Once your happy with the driver, then build
and test for XP with the latest released XP DDK.

Yeah. You can build your XP driver use Win2K DDK and SDK. However,
for 64 bit XP driver, you need to use MS 64 bit XP DDK (beta-2) instead.
