Windows CE/PocketPC 2002 DDK

Dear experts.

Maybe my question is kinda off-topic. But I’d like to ask you: is there any
DDK for Windows CE/PocketPC 2002 platforms from Microsoft? And which driver
model do these OSes use?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

There is something called as Platform builder which has several samples
and all that kind of stuff. And as far as the drivers on wince are
concerned, they are mostly .dll files running at application level.

Regards.

And I believe you need at least a Professional subscription to the MSDN.

No - you just need platform builder. Of course, if your going to do NDIS
work, you’ll probably need a DDK that has better help.

WinCE driver development is well-described on MSDN. Debugging is a
problem, since PPC is not capable of attaching the CE kernel debugger.

Since you hardly can add any new hardware to, say, iPaq, I assume that
your driver is a software-only kernel add-on and not the hardware
driver. In this case, you can debug it on emulator or on CEPC (usual
x86 PC running CE). You will need CE Platform Builder to use one of
these platforms. PB also includes the kernel debugger. PB costs some
amount of money like IIRC USD 2000 or such, and is not shipped on
MSDN.

I think your forgetting about the CompactFlash slot.
