I promised to look for a “list of highlights for this update.” We don’t have a very thorough one, but what we do have is in the November 7, 2012 issue of the Windows Hardware Newsletter, which you can subscribe to in the Microsoft Profile Center/Subscription Center: https://profile.microsoft.com/RegSysProfileCenter/SubCntDefault.aspx
We also post lists of doc and whitepaper updates to a few other places:
New for Windows 8 (Windows Drivers): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/windows/hardware/hh451220(v=vs.85).aspx
New Hardware Documentation and Tools: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windows/hardware/gg454514
Design, Develop, and Certify Hardware for Windows 8: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windows/hardware/br259114
One of our goals for the coming year(s) is to try to make it easier to locate the information you need on our site - by restructuring things, removing (or at least archiving/de-emphasizing) outdated information, etc. If you’ve got suggestions, pet peeves, etc., in this area, please send them my way.
Thanks!

Subject: [ntdev] Windows 8 GA MSDN documentation update
Hi everybody,
Late last Friday, while I was on (an unexpectedly brief) vacation in Philadelphia, we published updates to the WDK documentation for the Windows 8 GA (General Availability) milestone:
Windows Driver Development:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff557573
Design, Develop, and Certify Hardware for Windows 8:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windows/hardware/br259114
Hardware Dev Center:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware
Downloads for Windows Hardware Development:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg454513
Like the previous update in mid-September, this was officially a “fit and finish” update, so it mostly consisted of bug fixes. Our goal was to finish clearing out a very large bug backlog that had accumulated over the years, and we nailed it! ![ ](/images/emoji/twitter/slight_smile.png?v=12)
Note: As many of you know, we define “bug fixes” pretty broadly. For example, my brand-new Implementing IPv6 NS Offloadhttp: page counts as a bug fix, because it addresses a relatively small gap that was identified in the docs.
We don’t have a list of highlights for this update just yet, but when I do I’ll let everybody know.
Cheers,
–Diane
