One book said FSD will create VDO to represent volume.
Another book said Volume manager will create VDO.
So I am kinda confusing who actually will create the VDO? Thanks.

Volume manager will create the disk stack “block device” VDO which works as “read/write sectors”.
FSD will create the FS-level VDO which is referenced by the file objects for actual open files on the volume.
VPB is the link between the two.
