Wanted: Nagaar's Filesystem book

Does anybody have a copy of Rajeev Nagar’s “Windows NT File System
Internals : A Developer’s Guide” they want to part with? I’m having a hell
of a time trying to track down a copy here in Australia. If you have one
you want to get rid of, please email me at xxxxx@spherical.com.au.

Thanks,
Richard Cartwright
Spherical Technology Pty Ltd

Hello

Or maybe someone have it’s e-version. I’he heard that it exists somewhere on
NET. I know, that it’s bad and not legal, but sometimes it’s only way to get
it. For example in Ukraine (where I trying to found it).
If someone have it, or know where to find it, please mail to Slash_ifs@ua.fm

Regards

Amazon (or one of their partners) doesn’t ship it everywhere? Can’t
believe…! Some things are worth buying, and I know Mr. Nagar’s book is
worth it’s money ten times.

Amazon requires a credit card or a similar electronic mean of payment.
Please keep in mind that, altough may sound impossible
for a man which live in civilized countryes, that there are a lot of
countrys where such cards do not exist, or they cannnot be used
for buying on-line, because tha lack of legislation. Also, in some of those
systems, a card can be emitted by bank but they ask
for a insane (after country medium wedges) bank deposits in US$ to back-up
the card .

Also, keep in mind that there are countrys where a programmer can be happy
if it earns 200 US$ / month or so. For such
ppl , paying 50$ for a book is prohibitive. Im not advocating here the
illegal use of copyrighted materials, but please
do not judge so simplistic :stuck_out_tongue:

The book is out of print so you can’t just pick it up from Amazon. I tried
Amazon’s used book department but no copy came up in over two months. Hence
my request here. Thanks all for the suggestions though.

Steve,

There is no truth to this rumor. The last time I inquired I was advised
that Rajeev was working on the revision. That was some time ago, and I’m
not sure how his updating is going, nor how his joining Microsoft will
impact it.

Tony

Please keep in mind that, altough may sound impossible

countrys where such cards do not exist, or they cannnot be used

Even in Russian Federation which does not allow foreigners to banking,
you can start the card in any local bank, and it will be
internationally accepted (economical crisises aside, the last one was
4 years ago).

Also, keep in mind that there are countrys where a programmer can be

Such countries will never fulfil the IP laws, till either a) they will
get richer or b) the publishers will lower the prices for these
regions of the world, as MS does.

Oh… IFS-Kit is not 1000$ there? Very interesting, since it’s not even
cheaper for students here… I guess (bet, know…) MS would never reduce
the prices for them, if those countries wouldn’t otherwise prefer other
popular OS or software (that probably would become the leading product of
those future markets). Like in south america Linux is far more popular also
for the desktop than in rich regions, iirc. That of course is the reason why
other companies have no need to reduce their prices there, and it doesn’t
make sense to compare those companies to a unique company like M$!

In Russia, Windows Unpaid and XP Cracked are used on the common
desktops, nearly nobody fulfil the IP laws. You can buy nearly any
software and music in a subway station’s passage. The cops are walking

I tried to get it via Amazon and a bunch of other online used book search
engines as well, with the same lack of success.
Somebody has in fact scanned it in and ran it through OCR, and then put it
online as PDF. I found it through a search on Google.

Not just Russia Max. Same in India.
Windows is more popular (among Home users) in India
than Linux. Both are free here - unfortunately.
Big companies, IMO do honor software licenses. Others
don’t bother about it. The Software is never priced
for the Indian home user anyway.
As, long as things remain this way, we wouldn’t be
seeing an Indian version of Windows. Why would
Microsoft bother, right?
