Using Gflags

Hi All,

I’m using Gflags to open the special pool checking in WinXP. But I’m confused about how to set the “kernel special pool tag” items. For example, if I want to track the tag “Ifs”, should I input “Ifs?” or “?sfI” in the edit control with “Text” selected? I read some document about this but still confused:(

Thanks in advance.

Ifs?

When you reboot, look at nt!MmSpecialPoolTag. You can even edit this by
hand in the debugger for that truly old school feeling  Modulo the
special intepretation of ? and *, what you see there is compared
bytewise to what you see in the pool block header.

Am I right that MM will hit a breakpoint if allocation tag == MmSpecialPoolTag?

No, that’s nt!PoolHitTag.

I’m hopefully restating the obvious: use these as debugging aids, but be
aware they may change or go away in future releases, as with all things
internal.
