Hi,
In NT4 it is possible to write a user mode printer driver DLL which is
then identified to the system using the SPLUserModePrinterDriver key in
the registry under
HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Print/Printers//PrinterDriverData.
Does anyone know if this is still possible in XP?
Cheers,
David
The print driver model on XP is completely different from NT4. All
printer drivers are supposed to be user mode drivers on W2K and XP. So
the question of whether you can write a UMPD on XP is moot.

I know this a little off topic but, I was wondering if you knew of any
other good NT driver developer forums. Thank you in advance.

Hi Anthony,
I used to like http:</http:> http://www.chsw.com/DDK-L/.
The list no longer lives, but you can check out the archives.
I also used to hang at comp.os.ms-windows.programmer.drivers, but that list
gets *so* much spam and way-Way-WAY-off-topic stuff that I gave it up.
Don’t know if it still lives…
Suggest you spend a little time googling. I got good results with “ddk-l ms
driver programer”.
Harmony,
–Christine

It lives, but microsoft.public.development.device.drivers is better - more traffic and more MS people.
