unable to load diskperf.sys on vista rc2

Hi,
I tried to install the ddk sample diskperf (storage filter driver) on vista rc2 by right clicking on the inf file and clicking on the install option. It pops up an error saying “The inf file you selected does not support this method of installation”. Does anyone know what this means?

I can successfully install the driver by above method on Winxp and 2003 server.

Is there anything Vista specific that I am missing? I am using a 32 bit vista rc2 build. So I suppose it is not mandatory to test sign the driver. I have admin access so I can click on continue button when the unknown publisher dialog box comes up.

I have used WDK rc1 to build the driver ( also I built it against the checked build environment for vista x86).

Any help will be highly appreciated

Regards,
Satanand

Satanand:

Sometimes drivers that produce this error can be installed by pointing
Device Manager to the same inf file. I have no idea of why.
