UMDF on Windows 2003

Is this for-real that UMDF is not supported on server 2003…

Why was this decision made? I know XP supports it, I know vista supports it.
I can’t tell if XP 64 supports it… Will there EVER be server 2003 support for UMDF?
Is there any way to ‘trick’ it into working (this is not for any production use, rather just
Personal use)

I was also wondering if UMDF platform support was based on technical reasons, or more politcal ones?

The disparity of platform support between KMDF and UMDF is curious.

It was and still is a testing issue. We need to wrangle the internal
resources for testing UMDF and winusb on this particular OS release.
Again, we’re trying :wink:

It was based entirely on test resource considerations. Vista is a client release so we decided to focus our testing efforts on the client operating systems we wanted to support.

Our plan is that with Server 2008 we will also ship downlevel support for Server 2003 (and XP).
