SNMP & Routing Tables

Hi,

I recently posted a question with regards to accessing the routing table
from within a Windows 2000 NDIS driver, for which one suggestion was to use
SNMP. Has anyone used SNMP from NT/2000 to access the routing table of a
machine??

Thanks

Hi Gavin,

Yes. You can go to www.winsnmp.com and download our
Auto*Manage product (under eval license) from the
[Products] page there. Several of the utilities in
Auto*Manage can be used to access the routing table,
including the MIB Browser (np_browz.exe), MIB Walker
(np_walk.exe), and Table Snapshot (np_table.exe),
among others.

Using np_table, for example, enter the IP address
of the agent you want to access and a community sring
value (“public” may work), select the pre-compiled
RFC1213 MIB and then specifically the ipRoutingTable
from it…voila! (The Auto*Manage online help is
fairly good and will guide you through using the
local SNMP config database editor (np_ldbed.exe)
to help facilitate setup and storage of such queries
for future execution.)

The current version of Auto*Manage at that web
site supports SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c…an updated
version adding SNMPv3 support will be uploaded
in several days (but you probably don’t need the
SNMPv3 support for your purposes at this time.)

Thanks

You’re welcome…let me konw if you have any
problems with this approach (if you elect to
try it).

Cordially,
