semantics of alternate data streams

Gentlefolk

I dont seem to be able to find much at all definition of the semantics of
alternate data streams and the semantics of I/O ops for file objects which
relate to alternate data streams. I have tried to scour Platform SDK and IFS
KIT documentation without much avail. I was wondering if someone, perhaps
someone from Microsoft, could point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance
Lyndon

Is there a specific question you have regarding alternate streams which
is not answered via MSDN? It would be much more easier to answer
specific questions…
Thanks
Ravi

Hi Ravisankar

Fair enough, I was optimistically hoping someone would be able to point me
at the msdn or whatever url I had missed, so to speak. I shall instead ask
more specific questions here as these arise.

Kind regards
Lyndon

The only link I found on MSDN which has some examples of ADS naming is:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/fileio/base
/defragmenting_files.asp

Also Linux-NTFS project might help you:
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/

There were some mentions about EA on this news list but I couldn’t find any
useful information about it neither in MSDN nor in IFS Kit, it seems to be a
closed information.

Hope this is what you are looking for.
