Re: Vista 32-bit Signing (WAS: PICs for driver signing in x64 unavailable?)

Peter,

Do you have information we’re not privy to? Ever MS document I’ve ever
seen has said that you can’t get a DRS for a WHQL-able device.

E.g. from http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/drvsign/dqs.mspx

“Can I get a DRS signature for a device that has a Windows Vista Logo
Program?
No, the DRS program is only for device types that do not have a Windows
Vista Logo Program.”

Good questions. I’m not sure if all the details have even been worked out yet, to be perfectly honest.

I can answer #2 for sure: YES, you can get the DRS for a driver that’s WHQL-able. YES, that signing “counts” (so, for example, non-admin users will be able to install it).

Thanks, Ray, for pointing this out.

It is entirely possible that I’m either misinformed or interpreting something I was told incorrectly.

Thus, I withdraw my previous statement. To clarify: I DO NOT know if you can get a DRS signature for a driver type that’s WHQL-able.

Sorry for the confusion and - again - I really appreciate Ray pointing what’s been written about this program out to me,

I just wanted to close the loop on this. I did some checking, and Ray is indeed correct.

The Driver Reliability tests can only be used to qualify your driver for a signature when there is no device-specific program (WHQL Logo program) under which your driver could be tested.

Sorry for the confusion,
