RE: How can I read linux file system in the window2000 http://www.yipton.demon.co.uk/content.html#FS

MessageHere’s an open source driver for reading (read only) ext2fs file systems under Win 95.
Looks like Peter has some interest in making an NTFS version. Maybe you could collaborate?

OK sure but linux and nt are up and running at the same time so one can flip back and forth. I actually have no idea what the original poster is trying to do, other than get a free linux filesystem for nt

I think it requires Samba to run in the Linux VM so that NT can see the linux partitions. They do not have a native NT file system for the various Linux partitions.

Check out vmware at www.vmware.com, their product supports running nt under linux or linux under nt. Otherwise one would have to write an NT filesystem, and that is non-trivial.

it is really exciting
I wish to have a tool to access my linux filesystem from windows 2000 without restaring the system in Linux

You would be better off booting linux and accessing nt filesystems through linux.
