RE: can i build NT service and/or driver without DDK -?

It can be done. I’ve heard of developers using Borland or Watcom compilers
to build drivers (with the DDK) instead of using Visual C++. I saved a
newsgroup posting detailing the steps involved. It is a painful thing to
do, but it can be done.

AFAIK, the Windows 2000 DDK is a free download these days. (See
http://www.microsoft.com/ddk/.) Therefore, there is little reason not to
use the MS DDK. The licensing terms sound sensible. However, I am not
aware of anyone using the DDK with a copiler/linker other than MSVC++.
