Microsoft is targeting a post-Whistler release for read/write UDF 2.01
support. Whistler will be UDF up to 2.01, readonly.
If there was any annoucement from Microsoft that there would be
read/write UDF in Whistler, or an announcement that could be so
misconstrued, this was an error. If you can reference that annoucement,
I’d like to follow up and find out its origin.

Microsoft has never expressed any interest in natively supporting a
read/write version of UDF. Why would they with NTFS as their mainline
file system? There are 3rd party FSD’s available for such support
however. You can go to www.osta.org for more information on UDF support

Hi,
Does any body have an idea whether UDF read-Write support is provided in
Whistler? Microsoft had earlier announced that it will be supporting UDF
read-write file system in place of the current read-only file system.
Thanks in advance.
Bye,
Josie.
