proc filesystem in w2k land

Hello,

If I want to implement a w2k driver that supports some notion like a Linux proc filesystem, must I implement a filesystem driver that sits on top of my w2k driver?

Regards, Vasili

Not necessary. For registry, you do not need Mm or Cc. Just handle all usual file-related IRPs.

Implementing something like a proc filesystem in windows requires lots of interactions with the Process subsystem and you don’t have access to all the operations via the DDK or the IFSKIT. How will you for example write an arbitrary process address space and ensure that its secure ? Similar kind of functionality to proc filesystem is available via the Debugger and Error handling APIs in the SDK.
