Problem loading vxd in softice

Well, people, I build the “example.vxd” and create the
“example.pdb”, but when i try to make the “example.nms” with the symbol loader of
Driverstudio 3.1, it prompts the error: “Invalid executable”. I try to
do it with nmsym.exe and was the same. I will
appreciate any help or suggestion. Thank you.

Uhh … you do know that this is a WinDbg specific forum, and the your question concerns that “other” debugger?

There isn’t going to be a solution. VXDs are strictly a Windows 9X concept.

What are you actually trying to do? If you’re trying to write and test
a VXD, then you need to use the Windows 98 kernel debugger, wdeb98. Of
course, that implies that you must be running Windows 98. Are you?

Will you next ask for MP3s here? Questions not related to the newsgroup’s
purpose may draw an unfavorable response. Call or visit Numega to get
support.

I hope that the others persons of the newsgroups will be less susceptible than you David.
I don´t really think that my question is so far of the general purpose of the newsgroup
( kernel debug).

The title on the OSR Online web site is ‘WINDBG – Windows Debugger Users
List’. A little misleading. However having taken courses from OSR, I know
they don’t do 9x. Not in any form or way. They also don’t talk much about
Numega’s stuff other than to saying it exists. This was when Windbg was
really unstable, so I suspect even less now.
