I apologize that this not too file system specific.
I have a device that I would only like to be
“uninstalled” (by deletion from the Device Manager)
if the device says it is okay. I have tried
completing the IRP_MN_QUERY_REMOVE using
STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL as shown everywhere,
but this does not prevent the driver
info from being uninstalled from the registry.
I would like the remove/uninstall to fail, even
if the user has appropriate privledges, unless
the device permits.
I know this is probably a pretty basic question.
I’ve searched around various places - is this
something that can be accomplished via the driver
alone?
