pointers to firmaware resources

I am new to firmware/microcode for devices. My purpose is programming
certain classes of devices, extracting information from the microcode. I
would like to know what all resources do I need to have? And any info on the
topic would be of great help.

Hello,
Your program is largely going to depend on the controller ASIC used in the
board. It is usually a good idea to check in the manufacturer’s site for
relevant documentation. If your controller uses a DSP core, basic info on
DSP is available in http://www.dspg.com and http://www.dspguide.com/
