Point & Print

Hi,
We are having the following problem in printer driver :
Point&Print from Win 2K server to Winnt client fail to view printer
properties.

Can anybody give me the (generic) steps for point & print.

we done the following :

  1. Install Usermode driver on Win2K server and share out with Alternate
    Kernel mode driver installed.

  2. Point&Print to NT4 Client.

  3. From client try to open printer properties

  4. Error message rpompted. Test page able to print

thanks.

In step 2 I assume you meant, “Use Point and Print to install the
printer on the NT4 client”. If so, your basic steps seem to be correct.

Have you tested the kernel mode driver on a standalone NT4 system first?
If it doesn’t work on the standalone NT4 system, it is likely there is a
problem with the NT4 driver itself.

Also, on the W2K server, navigate to the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\W
indows NT x86\Drivers registry key and under this key, you should see
the following two subkeys that list the drivers currently installed:
Version-2 is for NT 4.0 drivers
Version-3 is for 2000 drivers
