Paper Size problems with MDT tool

Hi Guys,

I developed a mini printer driver for reduce from A4 Papersize to 140mm ,
on a POS printer.
I loaded into Unitool only one, A4 paper Size. All works well under
W98, Me and NT4.
Than I made a porting from NT4 to W2K / XP.
Using MDT tool i transleted from .GPC file to .GPD Script and i made also
the relative .INF file for installation.

Well, under W2K sp2 and also XP , when i try to do a “Printer Test Page”
from “Properties–> General”, the print
job abort, and pop up the following dialog box error message:
“Test Page Failed to Print. … Operation could not be completed”.

But, if I add another paper size like LETTER, (declared in
“stdnames.gpd”), all works well.
Now, I didn’t understand why i must to insert this last one when i have
not any reasons for use it.
how can i to avoid add a standard predefined paper size in my minidriver ?

Is a my mistake ?

BTW, under W2K sp2 i used MDT ver 1.2, under XP, MDT ver 1.5

Any help or suggestion will be very appreciated.

Vassia,
I don’t believe there a solution for this problem. My understanding is that
there must be one of the standard paper sizes in the GPD file and I believe it
must be the default size. This is a bug in Win2K - but not in WinXP. Don’t know
if this will be fixed or not.
