Overriding Win2k disk Driver

Hello,
Need help in the following issue
I m overriding the disk.sys in system32\drivers path
on windows 2000 server… …but i m not able to do
so…when i override the old disk.sys file by new
disk.sys(which has some changes in it)its copying the
new disk.sys .the new disk.sys is there in this path
for 2sec…then again the old disk.sys file is coming
and sitting in this path.But i m able to override the
disk.sys in win NT server…tell me y this is
happening…is it because of some security reason…if
so then how come i will over come this

Sounds like File protection is enable on your server.

This is new in Win2k, when you replace a system file, File Protection will
change the file back to the old one. There is a registry key you can set to
turn it off, but I don’t remember what it is, if you look on
http://www.regedit.com/ you should find it.

I don’t suppose you want to hear the answer “Don’t do this, it’s not a good
idea”, huh? But guess what? It’s NOT a good idea. At least not if you’re
talking about doing this to a customer’s system.

Replacing files is out of style. Filter drivers are the future.
