Guys.
A while ago I rated about Dell. It seems that it is not only me, who has
classmates working for Dell and know a bit more about them than average Joe,
has negative opinion about these salesmen.
Here is a quote from MSNBC article
http://www.msnbc.com/news/832882.asp?0dm=N18JT
The Axim X5-and why Dell decided to -introduce it-tell you everything
you need to know about how the world’s largest PC maker has managed rare
success in recessionary times. Dell didn’t do anything particularly new with
the Axim X5. In fact, though the company did design the PDA, it signed up
Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron to actually make it-unlike Dell’s PCs, which
the company assembles itself. The biggest twist is that Dell decided it
could undercut rivals by selling essentially the same device for less. Those
kinds of cutthroat tactics are why some competitors call Dell “a parasite”
that piggybacks off the inventions of others, slashes prices and destroys
the profit potential of markets. IDC analyst Roger Kay uses the more-neutral
phrase “fast follower.” He says, “They wait for someone to establish a
category, move in with mass production and deflate the margins.”

Any computer company I can call at 4 AM on a sunday morning and get free
tech support from is a winner in my book.

Bi,
I’ve used Dell for years with no problems. This “quote” from the
article is encouraging. Japanese manufacturers (cameras, VCRs,
automobiles, etc) have been doing this very thing for decades. It’s
good to see an American company catch on and be good at it (lowering
prices and beating the competition).
Peace,
Dan

Of course, I’m biased. I live one block from the Dell HQ in Texas and
I’ve enjoyed the appreciation of my property as Dell has grown over the
last four years. Dell employs many of my friends who were displaced by
other local employers. Their laptops (I’ve had two) are solid as a rock
(compare them with a Sony Vaio - I have one of those also). And
finally, I don’t like knocking down American businesses in general.
I’ve never seen a poor man give another person a job, and we spend too
much energy complaining about the successful among us.

opinion on DellI hate to sound like Net.Cop here, but this just does not
seem appropriate to this forum. If you have a problem with a Dell system
that Dell Tech support can’t solve, such as the inoperative PCI slots in my
GX150, and you hope someone here found an answer, then ask the question.
Otherwise, please take your rants^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H express
your opinions in an advocacy newsgroup.
