OID_GEN_PORT_STATE

Hi,

While implementing OID_GEN_PORT_STATE, From miniport driver we have to fill
NDIS_PORT_STATE structure. In this structure we have to fill the port’s
control state.
Is this control state related WLAN 802.1x authentication controlled and
uncontrolled ports.?

Thank you.,
Sachin

Your miniport driver will never receive an OID_GEN_PORT_STATEhttp: OID request, because all OID_GEN_PORT_STATE requests are handled by NDIS.

If you have seen any MSDN documentation that says otherwise, tell me where it is, and I will correct it.

Thanks,

–Diane

Thanks for your information. As this OID is not received by miniport. But in
the form of indication to ndis. We have update the NDIS_PORT_STATE
structure right? While updating this structure we have to update
NDIS_PORT_AUTHORIZATION_STATE
and NDIS_PORT_CONTROLL_STATE member. On what basis these fields will be
updated. What are the criteria for these port to controlled and
uncontrolled. In the same way authorized and unauthorized port.

Thank you,
sachin

Hi Sachin,

The NDIS Port Stateshttp: page discusses the criteria. Unfortunately I’m not expert enough to know if the information in the page is sufficient or not.

I hope this helps,
