NAT for NT ?

I am looking for a way to enable ~3000 Win95/98/NT workstations placed on ~200 separate intranets(10.*.*.*) to FTP some files to a server on the internet(yet another stupid law from Danish government).

All these intranets have a NT4/sp6 Server with 2 networks. One connected to the workstations and one to the internet.

The transfer has to be done from the workstation to the internet server via the NT4 Server.

Any ideas ?

One possible solution is to use Internet Acceleration Server (IAS, was Proxy
Server) and the relevant client software on each of the ~3000 workstations. In
theory if the workload is light, you would only need one IAS server to handle the
NAT/Proxying of FTP traffic. This approach may be overkill though since you only
need simple FTP proxying.

w2k Server (or maybe Advanced Server only?) has a built-in RRAS component
which contains NAT. Works fine, FTP is supported.
There was also RRAS for NT4 - though I don’t remember whether it contained
NAT.

As far as I know there is no NAT component for NT4 (at least not by MS)

I had a NAT that ran on NT, but the company got bought by Microsoft, and they stopped
selling it. The competitor to it was WinGate, but I’m not sure if that ran on NT.

It would probably be cheaper in the long run to buy 200 $100 NAT boxes than 200
$50 software licenses and have to install them, reinstall them later, etc.

There is a reasonably priced and fairly functional NAT service available
from www.nat32.com that I used for several years until my town left the
stone age and got dsl. Now I use a hardware solution, (built into the dsl
modem,) and for the type of installation the poster described, I’d suggest
that he go the hardware route as well.
