Is testing Whistler Personal Edition necessary?

If we run a full driver test suite on Whistler Professional do we need to do
any testing on Personal? If so, is there any functionality in Personal
that’s not in Professional"

thanks,

daniel

Well, I guess it depends on the type of driver, right? All the “toys” go on
Personal… weirdo digital media devices aimed at the home market, for
example. If interoperating with all these devices is important to you, then
you’ll have to test with 'em.

But just like there’s no appreciable difference in the operating system from
Win2K professional to Win2K server to Win2K Advanced Server, there’s no
appreciable difference from Whistler Personal to Whistler Professional.

Mostly, functionality is not present in Personal that’s present in
Professional: So Personal has single CPU support (only), no domain-based
logins, no file encryption… stuff like that.

So, in summary: Aside from interoperability with things that are only going
to run on Personal, the O/S is a sub-set of features from Professional.
