Hi,
Does anyone know when and why MSCS sends the IOCTL_VOLUME_ONLINE and
IOCTL_VOLUME_OFFLINE to clustered volumes?
According to the IOCTL names it might seem obvious that they are used to
notify volumes on state changes as volumes stacks on basic disks don’t
disappear when the disk resources is off-line.
However, according to my observations those IOCTLs aren’t necessarily sent
when the disk resource changes state.
Thanks,
Eran.
2003 SP1 sends IOCTL_VOLUME_OFFLINE if you revoke all drive letters in Disk
Management.
