IFS Kit Install Problem

I installed the IFS Kit from the CD once onto a W2K system with no
problems. Then I couldn’t find something in the samples so I thought I
might not have installed all the options and reinstalled the kit.
(Didn’t do the uninstall first.) After the install said it completed
fine I was not able to open Start\Programs\Development Kits\Windows IFS
Kit…\Help\IFS Kit Documentation. I get the error:

“Cannot open the file: C:\WINDD3790~1.183\help\winddk.col.”

The winddk.col is there, but is only 4KB.
I’ve now uninstalled the IFS Kit, rebooted, reinstalled it, rebooted and
tried again but get the same error message.

Does anyone know what might have gone wrong here and how I can correct it?

Thanks,
Steve

Did it happen to say why it can’t open that file? Regardless, do the
following and hope:

Uninstall again, then make sure there isn’t another entry in Add/Remove
Programs. If there is, try to uninstall that one, but if it’s there, I
would expect it to fail, as the uninstaller from the first one should
remove most of it.

After that, remove the entire C:\WINDD3790~1.183 directory. Oddly enough,
that looks suspiciously like a shortened long filename, except that it has
more than 8.3 characters.

When you reinstall, install it to the default location, and force a
complete install.

Hope that helps,

Phil
