IFS Kit Documentation

I’m trying to figure out which of Microsoft’s IFS Kit to buy (2000 or
XP). The Microsoft sales rep suggested I ask this list for advice. I am
much more interested in any documentation than I am in the specific OS.
The more complete the documentation, the more attractive the kit is to
me. The EULA pages for both the 2000 and XP kits state that the kit
contains no documentation. However, I thought I saw a message on one of
the OSR lists that stated there is now reference documentation in the
IFS Kit but no Driver Writer’s Guide. I searched the archives and I was
unable to find that message again or any other message that gives me the
information I want. So, do either or both of the kits contain
documentation (aside from sample drivers and header files)? Which kit
contains the most complete documentation? Your help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Aaron,

Both kits have documentation, but the XP kit has more including some
documents provided by OSR. If it is documentation that you want, you
should get the XP kit.

Rajeev Nagar’s book can be used as IFS kit documentation to some degree.
At least Ccxxx are documented there.
