I want to Hide HardDisks using Registry.

I wanted to know how to hide HardDisks on windows explorer.

So, Daniel replied to me. Thanks Daniel.

Now I know that I can hide hard disk if I add following value to Registry.

Key : HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Value : NoDrives , DWORD

Key : HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects{944121CA-1CB6-487B-A3A1-A5B1EE2C94B3}User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Value : NoDrives , DWORD

But it works so later. I think it works 90 Min later. ( I heard it is default time to refresh Group Policy )

So, I need to refresh Group Policy immediately.

and I tried to something for that.

I used “RefreshPolicy” function in “userenv.dll”.

But it did not work.

then I used other process. gpupdate(XP) , SECEDIT(win2000).

I excuted them.

gpupdate /target:user

SECEDIT /REFRESHPOLICY USER_POLICY /enforce

But… They did not work at all either.

I’m depressed because of that.

What should I do to hide harddisk immediately?

Please help me.

Hi, from what I know GPUPDATE should do the job. I tried taking a quick look at MS for programatically enforcing group policies, but not much results. Maybe it doesn’t work if you don’t use the group policy tools and manipulate the registry by yourself. If restarting or logging off is not an option I suggest you do some more searching around. In any case this list is for file system related issues, I suggest you post your message here instead
