Hi all,

moment.
I can get a hold on does two listed below in a couple of days, so if

On the other hand, I have several 4-port USB/serial adapters from
Keyspan that I use all the time to debug with, frequently multiple debug
sessions at the same time (we do cluster stuff that sometimes requires
breaking into multiple machines at the same time). It works very well,
running multiple 100Kb connections at the same time without issues.
Ou pay your money, you take your chances, I guess…

I have a Keyspan USB adapter that is *awful*. It maxes out at 38,400,
and even there it seems flaky. I think it was marked “PDA adapter”,
which is apparently code for “crappy data rates”. I have another from
Micro Innovations that has been fine. It comes up as a Prolific
Technology PL2303 Serial Port in the USB vendor id db.

I use a PPA Int’l Item #3312 that I got a Fry’s for about $20. It uses
a Prolific Serial port driver to enumerate a serial port. This will
only work for the host system. I do use a RJ-45 cable to connect the
two computers with a serial to RJ-45 adapter on both ends - one of which
has the pins crossed to form a null modem connection. Ethernet cables
are much better than cheap serial cables.

A problem with the serial port of your laptop perhaps?

Hi All,
I’m using a Belkin USB to serial cable adapter on my laptop with
a null cable that works just fine (when I connect two desktop)
The Hyper terminal test doesn’t seem to work for me on any com
port. I have fallowed trough the instruction and even tried few Ideas
from a previous thread that was published here but still…nothing
helps, any good or bad ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Maybe other hardware(usb to serial adapter) recommendations
Regards,
Daniel
