How to identify shutdown vs Hibernate action on Windows 8

Hello,?

I was wondering if anybody know, how to identify the shutdown state vs hibernate for Windows 8. Due to the hybrid shutdown (Fastboot enabled), it always does the hibernate action for the system context and the power state is always Hibernate action.

Is there any way in the power states to identify that or Can we identify that in dump filter in anyways?
Any other pointer on this is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

With Best Regards,
-Amol.?

Unfortunately, I wont be able to reveal that, but i am requred to understand it either during the shudown or during the resume. Does the Hibernation file header provide me that information in PO_MEMORY_IMAGE’s ‘HiberFlags’ or ‘FeatureFlags’ ?

Without a further level of detail on what you’re really trying to accomplish, it is unlikely that the list will be able to effectively advise you on a suitable course of action.

In the power irp, Parameters.Power.SystemPowerStateContext.TargetSystemSTate will be PowerSystemShutdown while Parameters.Power.SystemPowerStateContext.EffectiveSystemSTate will be PowerSystemHibernate during a hybrid boot. They will both be PowerSystemHibernate if the machine is doing just a hibernate.
