Hi,
We are in the process of developing a USB scanner device based on
CIS technology. We also want this device to be interfaced to a Windows XP
OS. Based on the study done, we feel that the driver for the scanner
device must be based on WIA architecture. This architecture recommends
development of a minidriver or microdriver and also the bus interface
driver.
WIN XP provides a generic USB bus scanner driver ( usbscan.sys ) which
hadles the USB specific requests for the device. Also there is a WIA
flatbed scanner driver (wiafbdrv.dll) provided by Microsoft.
We have the following queries :
- Can the usbscan.sys and wiafbdrv.dll drivers be used to access the
scanner ? - Do we have to develop a microdriver and integrate it with usbscan.sys
and wiafbdrv.dll ?
Thanks,
