File System Filter Driver

Hi all,
I have to develop a file system filter driver for Windows for
encryption/decryption of file content. But I don’t have worked in driver
development. please advice me how to start with this and give me related
information.

  1. this book is probably the best in the area:
    Rajeev Nagar
    Windows NT File System Internals: A Developer’s Guide
    O’Reilly, 1997.
    ISBN 1565922492

  2. and you should get some tools from the OSR
    website, like DeviceTree, PoolTag, OsrLoader
    and some from www.sysinternals.com, like
    DebugView and FileMon; the last one should be
    especialy useful, as it is a file system filter
    driver with full source code

  3. other info you can get searching this mail
    list or there is another one, a Google group,
    comp.os.ms-windows.programmer.nt.kernel-mode

Hi Umapathy!
Rajeev Nagar’s “NT File System Internals” is a good
place to start. It is the best (and only) book I have
seen on the File System Driver Development.
Amazon.com should give you a good deal on a used
copy. Check it out.
