Anybody know offhand of a storage device that uses a non-standard (non
512-byte) sector size that I can test my filter with? I remember seeing
a magneto-optical drive 5 years ago that used 1024-byte sectors, and
they do still sell magneto-optical drives, but are today’s models still
1024-bytes? Would I ever encounter anything above 1024 bytes?
(I recall a similar question being asked recently on this list, but my
data-mining ability failed me this time).
MO drives themselves do not determine the sector size, you must look for a
1024b/s media which should be currently available from multiple vendors.

This is so obvious that surely you’ve thought of using a CD?

I seem to remember seing MO disks with sectors of 2048 bytes, too.

DVD rewritables are 2048 bytes devices as well. These may be easier to
get ahold of nowadays.

Many RAID arrays with integral controllers use 4096 byte sectors.
Emulate your own with a disk filter.
