Driverquery.exe

I curse the developer who added driverquery.exe to XP.

Being a dinosaur, I spend most of my day in command shells. On NT and
2K, copying a new driver into place used to be a simple matter of
“\win\sys\dr”. Now, that gets me
driverquery.exe instead of the Drivers subdirectory.

I suppose I could just rename it to “droverquery.exe”…

Sorry, I like the driverquery tool, this has some excellent capabilities.

No, you can’t, thanks to WFP.

Why not using batch files?

I have similar feelings about the person who named the TS client “Remote
Desktop Client”. I neurotically try to keep programs that start with R
out of the recently used app list so I can do ctrl-esc followed by r to
get the “run” dialog. Once I TS a few times I can’t do that anymore.

Windows-R is your friend. We all learn to grow

 I also prefer command shells but because I’m even lazier, I wrote a few batches and 4NT aliases for these purposes. No need to repeat the same procedure again and again. Just “update driver” and it handles everything including SoftICE symbols update. Another batch reloads driver etc.

Golly, dude, use a batch file. Or use that registry entry, you
don’t need to copy your driver anywhere.

Alberto.
