Driver timestamp and INF file

Hi Experts,
What would be the implication if the timestamp and version information in
INF file doesn’t match with the drivers timestamp/version ?

Does windows still loads the latest driver and let it work flawlessly
without a hitch?
Would there be any problem in future wrt updating next version of driver ?

I checked MS link
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff547394(v=vs.85).aspx
but it does capture much detail in this regard.

thanks,
Raj

The INF timestamp/version is what is relevant for ranking. The timestamp/version of the sys file doesn’t matter for choosing which device to install. They probably are very rarely the same (e.g. most inbox drivers use a timestamp from 2006, while their sys files obviously have much newer timestamps)
