does RDR2 mean mini-redirector model

It is probably question for veterans. Some articles indicate that RDR2 sources were included in some old IFS Kit. My assumption is that RDR2 is de facto mini-redirector model (RDBSS). Is that true? If it is which the latest IFS Kit contained RDR2 sources?

The reason why I am asking is that I spend a lot of time in RDBSS disassembled code debugging my mini-redirector. Dip into (even) older version of source code would help me much.

For example article which I am referencing is:
Cache Me if You Can: Using the NT Cache Manager
http://www.osronline.com/article.cfm?id=167

Thanks in advance for information.

Thank you Baja. That’s response for question in subject. What about RDR2 sources and their presence in some old IFS Kit?

Thanks

‘smbmrx’ sample in the WDK is a minirdr (rdr2).

I am not looking for sources of any miniredirector sample, but RDBSS, which is the library that mini-redirectors are linked to.

In any case thanks

I never saw this source in any MS’s kit

Thanks Maxim. The reason I was asking is that in the article here (http://www.osronline.com/article.cfm?id=167) is table in which is stated that RDR2 has implementation of RxAcquireFcbForLazyWrite in rxce\resrcsup.c. It likely indicated me that RDBSS sources were part of some old IFS Kit.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

The source you are refering to was available as part of the Windows 2000
IFS Kit in /rdr2/supplied/rxce/

Not sure how you would go about getting a copy of that now though.

Ben, thanks for info. You are right there is no way to get old IFS Kit for unsupported OS. I am quite curious why they have removed it from later IFS Kit releases. Maybe it wouldn’t have fit into CD :-).
