Disabling Windows 7 Driver Singing check

Is there an option by which Win 7 (32 bit) will not warn about an
unsigned driver? By this I mean the dialog box that appears warning the
user about unsigned driver.

Some documentation suggests a boot time option (disable integrity check)
should work but my testing indicates that it doesn’t work.

Thanks

Pankaj

PS…Yes I know we should have signed drivers…hopefully at some point
we will. Until then I need this to make a silent install work without
the dialog box.

No, not for PnP installs on non-test machines. Sign your drivers.

Sure, send the driver to WHQL, and then sign the driver with the resulting
certificate. Bingo, no more complaints about the driver not being signed.
Or, always turn driver signing off when you boot, though I’m not sure that
will stop the unsigned driver warning. Or, use a test certificate, turn test
signing on, and always have a WinDbg host attached via 1394.

Oh gosh, I just can’t resist, and what part does your driver sing? Tenor,
Lead, Baritone or Bass?

This is only about KMCS.

As about PnP signing (.cat files) - you can sign with the test cert, and the result will be the same as when using the corporate cert (non-WHQL). Namely - “Do you trust software by?” popup in SetupCopyOEMInf, unless the cert is not put to Trusted Publishers.

WHQL will give you absolutely silent install.
