Different WDKs

Hi,

Is there any difference between WDKs in MS Connect and MSDN download? It seems that they have different version number.

Furthermore, if we want to get DTM for WHQL purpose, which WDK should we use? Or directly use the newly released WLK 1.0c?

Cheers
Green

Use the WDK build 6000 for DTM submissions until the new versions of the WLK
1.0c (or later) are officially released and authorized for use in
submissions.

Thanks. That’s what we are using. But there are 2 WDKs with 2 different version numbers in their image file names. Which one should be used?

Apart from relnote.htm , “en_windows_vista_windows_driver_kit_dvd_X13-31670.iso” and “6000.16386.061101-2205-LRMWDK.A.ISO” are 100 %
identical ( if your question concerns these ISO files )

Thanks guys.

Since found different ISO images with quite different version names, really need some clarifications.

Can’t you be a bit more specific? What, exactly, did you find, and
where did you find it?

In general, what you want is the 6000 WDK. The 6001 WDK is still in
beta and shouldn’t yet be used for production drivers. The original WDK
was about 2 gigabytes and included the whole DTM suite. Microsoft has
now split the two parts, so I guess it’s possible you found the 6000 WDK
by itself in a smaller download, but we can’t help you unless you tell
us what you found.

Tim,

I think i’ve clearly stated in the initial post where the images are: MS Connect and MSDN. If you go there, you’ll find 2 different images with probably version nubmers embedded.

gameplayeri it is you who is seeking information about 99% of those
who read this list and respond dont have the neceesity to go to msdn
connect or to any other place to get wdks they get it shipped to thier
office table and they probably have taking a guess atleast ten
different wdks ddks and other things installed on atleast five
different computers

so instead of askign someone to go to connect check and provide you an answer

it could have been simpler if you post what are the different images you have
what thier checksum is what thier version numbers are etc etc

and that could fetch an answer a million times faster than your approach
