Has anyone noticed that DFS volumes cannot be filtered under NT4? I don’t
mean the filemon kind of filtering, I mean the sfilter kind of filtering
that is initiated when the volume mounts. DFS appears to call down directly
to the redirector, bypassing the filtering mechanism. Has anyone else
successfully been able to filter DFS volumes on NT4?
Thanks.
Neil
Do you mean that DFS volumes are mounted for W2K and above?

Neil,
There has always been an issue with DFS and filters because DFS caches
the top of the redirector stack when it loads. Any filter that loads
and attaches after DFS will be bypassed. This is true on W2K, XP and
Srv03.
The solution to this is to load your filter at boot time.
Are you doing this on NT4 and still having problems?
