I apologize if this is already well known, but I didn’t stumble on
anything on the Web about it as I struggled.
After installing the OSR provided 1394 PCI card in a W2K/SP3 system and
going through the reboot after driver installation, the ohci1394.sys
driver failed to load at boot/start-up with the Code 10 message.
The solution was to enter the Dell’s BIOS (Dell SC430 model) and disable
the Fastboot feature (described in the configuration screen as bypassing
some compatibility features).
I hope that this saves someone time in the future.
