Cluster services and 3rd party filesystems

The Microsoft Cluster Services for application failover
clearly documents that a scsi device on a shared scsi
bus is required for sharing a filesystem between two hosts.

It appears that the clustering software checks for this
type of configuration and will not allow you to specify
anything else like a clustered filesystem, even if that
filesystem may provide a similar level of sharing,
reliability and coherency.

Is this assumption correct?

If so, is it possible to configure the clustering software
not to enfore this requirement, or extend the clustering
software to work with another filesystem?

Thanks,

David

Maybe there are virtual scsi devices of such on the market.
