Building the src\input\layouts samples with W2K?

I tried and tried but did not succeed in building the keyboard layout
sample codes in src\input\layouts of the Windows 2003 DDK. It creates
the .exp, the .lib and the .obj but no DLL at all. I even tried with
FILEMON to catch the output location of the DLL - but there is no DLL
being created.

Now my question: could it be a problem that I run Windows 2000 but try
to build the Windows XP or 2003 versions, respectively? I’d be amazed
if so, but I see no other problem here. Also if I try to use cl/link
manually it spits alot of errors (of course, since some includes
cannot be found).

Any suggestions?
