BSOD: PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGES

ALL:

I’m getting a 0x00000076 (PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGES) very early in the
boot process (what would appear to be immediately after selecting a
configuration in bootmgr) on an Intel E7520/6300ESB CRB with a (checked)
32 bit installation of Vista 6000. It had been working fine, and I
don’t know what changed, but there are several strange things about this
BSOD:

  1. It is occurring even before the screen that /SOS shows is
    appearing.
  2. The only information on the blue screen is a single line (more or
    less like):

BSOD: 0x00000076 0x80000003 0x81966578 0x00000000 0x00000000

  1. The parameters (P1, P2, P3, P4) are either not what is documented,
or they are in the wrong order (P1 is supposed to be zero).

  2. The screen itself is not centered, and it was before the BSOD.

  3. Selecting “Last Known Good” results in the same problem.

I was just beginning to look in the problem, but, once I saw that
parameters are not what they are supposed to be, I thought would ask it
anyone knew about this or anything like it.

Thanks,

mm

Do you have a graphics card installed? I have an ATI Radeon X300 that
Vista absolutely refused to play with. I could get it installed all the
way to the final switch into graphics mode, and then I’d get one of a
small collection of inexplicable blue screens, usually in atikmdag.sys.

ATI impressed me with their utter refusal to be of any help at all in
resolving this, even after RC1.

TIM:

I have an ATI Radeon (9250). I sure hope that this is just a
coincidence, but the product and timing of the BSOD do bear a strong
similarity to the situation you describe. The curious part is that,
unless I’m just not remembering correctly, it did work for a day or so.
The board is an add in, and I can go back to the embedded ATI
controller, but I would so very much no like to do that, as it is
absolutely prehistoric with no Vista support, and the performance of
the checked standard vga driver makes the whole system close to
unusable.

In any case, I greatly appreciate your help.

Thanks,

mm
The board itself has an embedded ATI product that I don’t recall the
name of, but

I realized later that I seemed to be putting the blame on Vista for this
failure. I do not. The blame rests squarely on ATI.

True enough, but irritating nonetheless.
