Binding information

Hi–

I am trying to develop a better understanding of binding under WXP.
Specifically, who does what to whom and when. The context is use of an
IM filter driver.

I read that for each protocol bound to an adapter, an installed IM
filter driver would
automatically be shimmed between them. But after installing Compuware’s
IM filter
driver (ImDelay) and inspecting the bindings with BindView (DDK), I see
several
binding paths from TCP/IP to the adapter (e.g., WINS, NDISUIO and TCP/IP
itself).

AFAICT, I have removed/disabled all bindings other than TCP/IP (e.g.,
WINS,
NetBIOS over IP) through the Network Properties dialog box.

Is there a good source available on binding detail under WXP that might
shed some light? (I’m looking for both a how-to and a process-detailing
book).
