ATA DMA and w2k

Hi all,

Is there any registry key (like DmaDetectionLevel DriverParameters value
on NT4) to enable the use of the ATA DMA on w2k on the machine with i815
chipset?
The ATA controller settings has “Use DMA if possible” mode on -
nevertheless, the driver uses PIO, which makes the disks unacceptable slow.
Is there any “tweaking” registry keys of downloading the Intel’s ATA
drivers is the only solution?

Usually this means that the BIOS has not been configured correctly to allow DMA
mode. You could try to see if an updated BIOS is available. Usually Win2K is
pretty good about enabling DMA by default. Note that the connection of certain
slave devices (older CD-ROMs most notably) can disable DMA for that channel’s
primary device too.

The motherboard (Asus CUSL2) is renowned for its buggy BIOS :frowning:
Looks like that Intel’s drivers will be the only chance.
