Are the samples in 3790.sp1 different than those in 6000 WDK

All:

Sometime in the past couple of weeks, a dev posted about whether he or
she should purchase the 3790.sp1 IFS kit because it contained different
samples than what is presently in the 6000 WDK. Does anyone know if
this is actually the case? If so, are we talking different as in
more/some that don’t exist, and/or different more complete? While I
don’t do much in the FS area, if they are significantly different in
some way, as I own the IFS, I would still like to get those installed
for reference, but the in order to do so, I have to uninstall all my
existing WDK’s, or go go exploring the COMMON folder, because the
3790.sp1 installer is complaining about them.

Thanks,

mm

We are talking minor differences, there aren’t any new, and all the
old samples are present. Some notable differences include WLH FastFat
sources, and the CTX sample shows support for File Contexts (not that
it’s of any use, considering it’s Vista only).
I have both the Srv03sp1 IFS Kit and WDK installed without issues.
WDK is for help and sample reference purposes only, I use the IFS Kit
for compilation. (I found a few quirks with the w2k build environment in
the WDK)
I even have a compile script (batch file) that compiles both w2k_x86
and wnet_x64 drivers (calls the SetEnv.bat for w2k, builds, calls
SetEnv.bat for x64, builds).

I DON’T know whether there are issues building from the VS IDE, I
still prefer edit.com and command prompt in general due to my eyesight.

Thank you, Dejan. I think my install issues are due to my having
uninstalled the 3790 a while back.

Edit.com? That is officially old school.

In any case, thanks very much.

Nothing to do with the drivers, or anything development related, but
rather just personal. It’s the reason I am still on 32-bit OS
