Activating automatic caching for "offline files"

Hi,

I want to (de)activate the automatic caching for “offline files” via a
program. Who can help me here?

With kind regards/Met vriendelijke groeten

Are you talking about the Remote Storage service in Windows 2000 server,
where files can be moved offline to tape media? If so I can tell you that
there is no api defined for moving files into Remote Storage (that is all
done automatically based on the last accessed date and file size). There is
an api to recall a file (other than simply opening and reading it) however.
Look for FSCTL_RECALL_FILE in the developer library.

I was one of the developers that wrote Remote Storage for Microsoft (we
were Seagate at the time and were purchased by Veritas) and I am currently
working on an enterprise level Remote Storage system. If you are planning
on using this type of functionality I would be very interested in hearing
what you would like to do so I can accommodate what ever I can in the
enterprise version. (Thus the direct reply - we are not ready to announce
this to the world just yet).

Ok, I guess I blew that. Not really a big deal as many of you already knew
about it. Since the “world” now knows I will open the offer to anyone
interested. Send me your requests for features and I will make sure they
get considered. Please send them directly to me so as not to fill the list
with messages many will not be interested in. I cannot make any guarantees
that your requests will be implemented, nor can I discuss what features are
planned or release dates, etc. I will try and reply to all requests (no
guarantee there either though).
