!394b on Windows xp x64

HI All,

I’ve been searching all sorts of archives/NGs on this, but to no avail.

There is an issue with 1394b speed in windows xp SP2 (KB885222) that
decreases the speed of devices to 100 Mbits/s.

The KB Article has an associated fix for 32 bit windows. Does anyone here
know where, if at all, this can be found for x64 Windows?

Thanks
Robin

Since Windows XP 64-bit is really Windows Server 2003 SP1, the
applicability of a Windows XP SP2 fix is dubious, at best.

Are you trying to solve an observed problem, or is this merely a
prospective search for what you think might be a problem?

Regards,

Tony

After waiting for some time I decided to go ahead and actually install XP
x64 (as proposed also by numerous articles from OSR :-))

I am actually seeing my ‘old’ 1394a Disk running only at 10 MB/s (it used to
transfer at >22MB/s).
I already looked at W2K3 drivers/updates, but either this is not known
there, or I’m doing something wrong, or no one cared until now.
I haven’t yet tried this out on a ‘true’ x86 Win2K3Sp1.

Anyway, on a side note:
XP x64 seems to run most of the Stuff I’m used to Editor, Compiler,Debugger
(apart from the known Windbg issues).
Antivirus seems OK from Avast.
Some of the Video Stuff stubbornly won’t install (i.e. AVID DV Express).
VSNet 2005 beta looks quite OK for now.
Porting drivers to x64 is what I’ll look at in the near future.
Maybe even a ohci.sys that has something of the (still draft OHCI1.2
spec)…

Cheers
Robin

There is no x64 fix I’m afraid.

depending on what you want to do you may just ignore the speed map
provided by microsoft (if your are writing your own device driver).
